Enamel pins recently made television history … or rather we were reminded of some lapel pin history on the popular History Channel show “Pawn Stars”. A customer, and former Olympic athlete, had brought in a pre-event screening pin he was given during the summer games. We learned from Rick that some of the earliest Olympic pin badges, made in the 1930’s and worn by the athletes, were actually made of cardboard and embellished with metal foil.
The humble beginnings of the cardboard pin badges soon led to high quality hard enamel & soft enamel pins and Olympic Pin Trading quickly became an international pastime.
Pincrafters have been proud to be involved in Olympic pin production for the Cayman Islands Youth Olympic Team and many other Olympic projects.
