I recently found an article about a common trend in municipalities using lapel pins.
Although lapel pins are often sold for retail purposes or for service recognition for employees, many towns use lapel pins to brand their town to potential businesses and visitors.
One such town, Nogales, Arizona are trying to change peoples opinion of their town. “The city ordered 5,000 bumper stickers and lapel pins with a new slogan, “Nogales AZ, a great little place to be,” and the stickers are being placed on all city vehicles. The previous city slogan, “You’re among friends,” coined in 2000, will still be used on promotional materials, according to the mayor.”
